It is one of the most the most prestigious awards of IAGMH. Only members of IAGMH are eligible for contesting for this award. The award consists of a medal, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10000.
Nominations for the award are to be invited in the first announcement of GERON for the said year. The interested member may directly apply, or may be nominated by another member of IAGMH. Members desirous of contesting for the award should submit a soft copy of the Nomination (Name of nominee, Name of award, Biodata of nominee along with a detailed list of publications in geriatric mental health) to the Chairman, Awards Committee.
Evaluation: The biodata and research publications of nominee (s) will be evaluated by a team of 3 senior experts, from the field of Geriatric Mental Health. The experts shall be nominated by Chairman Awards Committee. They will scrutinize the submissions, and award marks on the basis of the following (total 50 marks):
- Qualifications/Credentials in the field of Geriatric Mental health(10)
- Biodata/ Resume(10)
- Research publications in geriatric mental health(20)
- Overall contribution to geriatric mental health in India(10)
A maximum of 5 papers will be selected for oral presentation, among the highest scorers of the theory
evaluation. These papers will go on to compete for the oral presentation at the annual conference of the said year. There will be 3 judges to judge the oral presentation at the time of the conference. A total of 25 marks will be awarded, judged on the following parameters:
- Presentation of relevant literature (6 marks)
- Clarity of slides, tables, results and discussion (6 marks)
- Ability to defend hypothesis and answer questions (6 marks)
- Overall impression and lucidity of presentation (7 marks)
The award winners will be decided according to a total of the theory and oral marks obtained. The first three highest scorers will be given Ist , IInd & IIIrd prize in order of merit, In case of a tie, only two awards would be given as applicable, and the prize money would be equally divided among the award winners.
